A Legacy of Prayer
Grandparents praying for the HCA Community

God has given grandparents a sacred trust – an opportunity to imprint another generation with His love and faithfulness. Perhaps no other time in our history has a call to prayer been more critical for grandparents as it is today. Grandparents need to be intentional about prayer and avail its power to keep the hearts and minds of their grandchildren from falling captive to the enemy’s deception. We are engaged in a spiritual battle that requires prayer as the weapon.” (Christian Grandparenting Network)

Believing this, A Legacy of Prayer is a group of praying grandparents who are committed to standing in the gap for Heritage Christian Academy, its staff, its children and their families. We are following the example of Jesus when he prayed for His future descendents – those who would be born again by his spirit. “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message” (John 17:20).

“God shapes the world by prayer. Prayers are deathless. The lips that uttered them may be closed in death, the heart that felt them may have ceased to beat, but the prayers live before God and God’s heart is set on them, and prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; they outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.” – E. M. Bounds

Often, as grandparents we make plans to leave behind material wealth for our grandchildren. While this is good, we know how fragile money and possessions can be. Through prayer, however, we have the opportunity to leave the best for our grandchildren, a spiritual trust fund that cannot be lost or depleted. Prayers deposited at the throne are not limited to linear time, just as God himself is not. Our grandchildren will be able to make withdrawals on this spiritual account as the need arises and long after we are gone.

As we pray for HCA, the staff and the children, we are storing up spiritual riches that cannot be stolen and where moth and rust cannot destroy (Matthew 6:19-20). We are leaving a spiritual trust fund, A Legacy of Prayer for our grandchildren.

The grandparent prayer group believes there is life-changing power in group prayer on behalf of another. The community transforms the voice of one into a chorus in God’s ears. Please join our choir, and may our prayers be a sweet, sweet sound in HIS ears.
