Student Life

Knowing that today’s youth will become tomorrow’s leaders, HCA places a high priority on teaching leadership skills. At the foundational level, we teach servant leadership: that a true leader must be a servant first and foremost, with a heart for helping others as taught and modeled by the Lord Jesus in Mathew 20:26-28.

HCA’s Senior High Student Life is designed to develop the intellectual skills, character qualities and spiritual aptitudes necessary to become strong leaders.

Timothy Leadership Council

TLC is student group designed to develop and practice Biblical servant leadership at Heritage Christian Academy. Jesus told us that “whoever would be great among you must be your servant...even as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Paul told Timothy: “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

TLC is a group of six students who will serve their fellow students by meeting regularly with the principal to plan and implement student-initiated or student-led leadership activities. These activities might include mutual encouragement and edification, student leadership training, community service projects and prayer events.

Leadership 101

Leadership 101 is a practical, Biblically-based program designed to help young people in grades 9-12 model the servant-leadership style of Jesus. Students will be trained in the Biblical model and definition of leadership with a core emphasis on three operating principles: serving the community, serving the Body, and engaging the culture. This program is designed to integrate with the regular classroom training students receive (including the “Understanding the Times” curriculum) by providing motivation and opportunity to put those principles into practice.

The program consists of a set of measurable goals that each student will be challenged to meet. Those who meet those goals will be invited to a year-end banquet at which they will be recognized.

Worship Team

The HCA worship team is a student-led group consisting of multiple students leading their peers in worship during the Friday chapel. Responsibilities include choosing songs, organizing slideshows, singing, and/or playing an instrument for chapel. The students involved learn to cooperate with each other in an environment that pairs the Scripture with music. Interested students can volunteer their time for practice and are welcome to join. This worship team is open to all Senior High students who want to share their God-given abilities and talents of music and media with the rest of the student body.

Journalism focuses on the basic elements of journalism. Students will study the writing style, structure, and professional responsibilities of a journalist while helping to create the school newspaper and HCA Weekly ENewsletter.

Yearbook focuses on planning, creating, editing and promoting our annual yearbook. Every student in the Yearbook class is assigned yearbook pages, and develops writing, editing, graphic design and layout skills as well as individual, team, and group responsibility.

Senior high students are able to participate in the following sports:

  • Boys & Girls Soccer
