The understanding and appreciation of the finest works of man’s creative spirit are necessary for a complete education. Effective instruction in the visual arts provides the student with technical skills and motivation to develop an awareness of their environment and to increase aesthetic and cultural understanding.
Beginning in Kindergarten, students at HCA learn techniques and applications with various media from construction paper and colored pencils to watercolor and pastels to tempura paint and pen and ink. Through each project the student is able to grasp with clarity the spiritual concepts in understanding God's purpose and instructions for living. While using visual perspectives in connection with God's character and His word, the student will come to a place of increasing awe and wonder in glorifying Him through what God establishes with the work of their hands (Psalm 90:17).
