Mr. Octavius Womack

Director of Fine Arts/MS and HS Theater

Joining the HCA family from California, Octavius Womack, better known as “O,” is very excited to join the HCA community. Octavius
graduated from The Young Americans Performing Arts College, where he received a degree in Vocal Performance. He has had the
opportunity to perform in shows such as Dreamgirls, Sister Act, and Five Guys Named Moe, just to name a few. He has shared the stage with artists such as Brain Stokes Mitchell, Leslie Odom Jr, and Bernadette Peters. Octavius notes, “The Arts provide life changing tools that allow students to find a voice that they never knew was there, and I am very excited to be part of the search.”

Mrs. Meredith Barreth

Choir Director: MS, HS

A native of Holly Pond, Alabama, Meredith completed her graduate studies in Vocal Performance at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Following her teaching and studying in Florida, she moved to Kansas City and now considers herself a proud Midwesterner. She has sung with the Grammy Award winning Kansas City Chorale since 2007. She enjoys serving in her local church in children’s ministry and curriculum writing. She has always believed that singing is very close to the soul and can help us process the greatest questions of life. It is her privilege to guide students to grow and learn this great art form. When she isn’t singing, she enjoys being with her husband, Ben, and her three children: Gwen, Zeke, and Romy.

Mrs. Andrea Darlington

Andrea Darlington graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Science Education and an emphasis in chemistry and mathematics. Throughout her college experience, she worked as a high school and college ACT and chemistry tutor. She has a passion
for science and looks forward to being able to share her passion with HCA students. In her free time, Andrea loves to volunteer at her church, read, and go for runs. She and her husband, Josh, were married this past May.

Mrs. Rachel Rinehart

Teacher: 8th Grade Algebra, HS Mathematics

Rachel Rinehart comes to HCA with eight years of teaching experience. As a Wichita, KS native, she graduated from Friends University earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education (6–12), a Bachelor of Science in General Mathematics with a Minor in Music,
and a Master of Education with an Emphasis in Teaching and Learning. She is excited to have the opportunity to teach at HCA where she can share her love for math and her faith in God with youth and others. When she is not teaching, Rachel loves spending time with her husband Steve, whom she wed on May 30, 2020, and her extended family, playing the piano, reading, and cheering on the Wichita State Shockers men’s basketball team.

About Mr. Adams

Mr. Steve Adams, with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics (minor in Physics) and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration, has been teaching for 40 years. He currently teaches in the STEM department. Mr. Adams has attended international educational technology conferences (ISTE and FETC) and has presented sessions at FETC. He has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum at HCA’s elementary and upper school.

Beverly Beazley Bio Headshot

About Ms. Beazley

Beverly graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri in Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts in History and she has completed 24 credit hours towards her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Most recently, Beverly taught at Grace Christian Academy in Shawnee. She also had the privilege of home educating her three children, all of whom are now in college and passionate about following Jesus. In addition, Beverly is involved in Children’s Ministry at a local church and has enjoyed teaching in Sunday School and Awana for many years. Beverly’s desire is to honor the Lord in her teaching and she feels incredibly blessed to be able to work with tomorrow’s leaders in a godly environment.

Mr. Anthony Brenchley serves as our Director of Information Technology—aka, our “Computer Guy.” He manages network administration, technology implementation, and IT support for both campuses. He has also taught at HCA for 8 years and continues teaching a variety of classes in our STEM Department including 7th and 8th Grade STEM, Pre-Algebra, and Introduction to Engineering Design.

About Mrs. Briley

Mrs. Briley has over 10 years of experience in teaching and administration, along with serving on the school board. Meaghen has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with certification in Early Childhood Special Education from Emporia State University. She has a passion for young families and serving alongside them as they begin this exciting new chapter. Her goal is for students to begin laying a foundation in Christ that will last a lifetime. Meaghen has been part of Heritage since 2009. The preschool in 2013 had 32 students and today over 100 students are served. The preschool not only provides a solid education and safe environment, but a place where children can learn about Jesus Christ and His love for them.

About Mrs. Conner

Mrs. Conner moved to Olathe two years ago from Springfield, Missouri, where she served as a technical writer, an editor and an online English instructor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Evangel University, and she will complete her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction this year through Liberty University. Rachel and her husband Scott have three daughters (ages 14, 12 and 9) and spend most of their weekends attending their girls’ various athletic events. She feels extremely blessed to be teaching the students at Heritage and is excited to build relationships with their families.

About Mrs. Cox

Mrs. Cox has over forty-four years of teaching experience. She has taught first grade at Heritage since 2005 (Westminster prior to 2010). Lynda has a Master of Science in Education from the University of Central Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Missouri, plus 60 additional graduate hours from Webster University, Missouri University and Rockhurst University. Her passion is to help students develop a lifelong love of learning. Lynda’s goal is to be a “student” of her students. In addition, her goal is to challenge her students to allow God to mold their hearts in submission to Him so that He can equip them to be hands and feet of Jesus Christ in the world.

About Mrs. Ferguson

Sonya lives in Olathe with her husband, Kevin, and four children, Connor, Camille, Caelyn and Courtney. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, and is currently working on her Master’s Degree: Instructional Specialist with a STEM emphasis. Sonya has worked at HCA East Campus as the Spanish teacher for two years and most recently as the 6th grade math, science, computer and Bible teacher. Sonya enjoys family camping trips, going for walks, hot coffee and reading.

Mrs. Foster teaches High School English. She has been teaching for twelve years, and loves to share areas of study that she is passionate about with her students. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Theatre from Kansas State University and a Master of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Roosevelt University in Chicago. She has been a dancer her whole life and it has taken her through college, touring with Dance Olympus and Dance America, performing with a professional company, and coaching at the secondary and collegiate levels.

About Mrs. Foster

Jeni completed her undergraduate degree at Baylor University, and then attended the University of Kansas to pursue a graduate degree in School Psychology. She then worked in the Blue Valley School District as a School Psychologist for 9 years, at which point she decided to stay at home with her two children. While attending KU and while working in Blue Valley, Jeni did a lot of work in the areas of girl friendships and bullying. Additionally, while staying at home with her children, Jeni volunteered with a mentorship program for 2 years during which she oversaw a program of high school girls mentoring middle school girls. In recent years, Jeni has also done some work in the area of resilience. Jeni has a passion for helping students build resilience, enabling them to bounce back in the face of adversity. Additionally, Jeni greatly values mentorship and has a passion for helping students experience true and healthy community and to become who God designed them to be.

About Mrs. Franklin

Mrs. Franklin has over 35 years of experience in teaching. Judy has a Master of Arts in Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nebraska with emphasis in Child Development, Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She has completed post graduate work in reading instruction. In 2006 she was honored by KAIRS as a Kansas Distinguished Teacher. Judy’s passion is assisting all children to become proficient readers. Her goal with every student is to instill a life-long love of words, stories and books. Judy began at HCA in 2015 as Reading Specialist.

Mrs. Jeron Gibbons has been with our preschool since day one and has over six years of experience in teaching Jr. K. Her passion is coming alongside young families and partnering with them as they enter into the school age years. About Mr. Hoskins

James Hoskins serves as assistant dean for the middle school. He teaches 12th grade Bible (Worldview and Apologetics). James is also a published writer in philosophy and Christian worldview. He has recently contributed essays to ChristAndPopCulture.com (2013–present), the Christian Research Journal (2016), and the book Utmost Ongoing: Reflections on the Legacy of Oswald Chambers (Discovery House Publishers, 2017). In his spare time, James enjoys writing and playing music. This is his 10th year at HCA.

About Mrs. Houske

Mrs. Houske is a seasoned educator. Mrs. Houske comes to HCA with 20 years of teaching experience. She received her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University as well as a Master’s Degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University. She taught first and third grade in Olathe Public Schools for 13 years. She has also worked for Lawrence Virtual School as an Education Consultant. In addition, Mrs. Houske has worked as an ELL teacher and taught at a Parents’ Day Out program in Olathe. Mrs. Houske’s passion is to help her students fall more in love with Jesus every day. She loves listening to their sweet voices as they recite Bible verses they have memorized. Mrs. Houske has been working at HCA as a Lead Teacher in the preschool since 2017. Mr. Olson has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Kansas State Teacher’s College in Emporia, Kansas. His teaching career spans over 45 years, the majority as a physical education instructor. He also enjoys coordinating field days, Jump Rope for Heart and other fun events. Brian’s goal as a P.E. teacher is to lead young people in being physically active while developing Christ-like character. Brian has also coached varsity basketball for over 25 years as well as other sports. He was awarded Coach of the Year in the Western Reserve Conference. He started teaching at Heritage Christian Academy in 1992 (Berean prior to 2010) as the elementary P.E. teacher. He also teaches the preschool Mini Movers class.

About Mr. Parr

Mr. Parr serves as chaplain for HCA. In this role he coordinates weekly chapel services, leads the student worship team, provides biblical guidance to students and faculty, teaches Bible classes, and oversees biblical worldview integration into curriculum school-wide. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas. He has since been in two local bands and a professional Octet called Octarium. He has also had the opportunity to sing with various touring artists. Jason is proud to have been leading in full-time church ministry for over 21 years. He is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity Degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. Marsha Parr serves as dean of faculty and curriculum for the upper school. She also teaches 9th grade and 12th grade honors literature and composition. She graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of Kansas where she earned both her Bachelor and Master degrees of Curriculum and Instruction in English and Social Studies education. While at KU, she ran Varsity Cross Country for the Jayhawks and participated in University Theater. Mrs. Parr began her teaching career at Blue Valley High school where she taught Honors and Advanced Placement English and coached cross country for several years. Mr. Schenk serves as dean of administration for HCA. In this role he functions as activities/athletics director, facilities coordinator, dean of students, accreditation supervisor, and scheduling supervisor. He has over 28 years of experience in Christian education, both teaching and coaching. Schenk has coached soccer at the high school (19 years) and college level (7 years: Dordt) and holds an Advanced National Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches. He also coached HS basketball (10 years) and track (5 years) in Pittsburgh, PA. Dave and his wife Liz have two grown children and two that currently attend HCA. A native Canadian, he is now a U.S. citizen and has lived in the states since graduating from college.

Jason Schoff serves as the International Student Director where he uses his cross-cultural experiences and training to equip students and families. He worked overseas in Uruguay for two years and then returned to work for a local immigrant ministry for seven years. He spent the last five years teaching Spanish at an area middle school. Mr. Schoff enjoys sharing his love for languages and heart for foreigners and is excited to lead our international student program. He and his wife, Megan, have two boys and enjoy all sports.

Nathan is familiar to many HCA families as he has served as a teacher at the East Campus (and Westminster before that) since 2002. He holds an Associate Degree in practical theology from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Sterling College. He taught 15 groups of third grade students before shifting to sixth grade. Nathan is beginning his second year of teaching sixth grade history and English at HCA. Mrs. Sievert has over 25 years of experience in education including administration, teaching and serving on school boards. Kathy has a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from William Jewell College. Her passion is to help scholars to know Jesus and to see them transformed by the gospel. In addition, her goal is to partner with parents and teachers to create an educational environment in which each child can realize his or her academic, social and spiritual potential. Kathy has worked in administration at Heritage since 2000 (Westminster prior to 2010) and is our Elementary School Principal. Notable among her accomplishments is forming the “Culture of Kindness.” The Culture was developed to teach the gospel of Jesus to our children and to support a calm, focused learning environment. This initiative has been very successful as a discipleship tool and was awarded a Commendation from the ACSI.

Rev. Stephen Sprague

Rev. Stephen Sprague serves as the instructor for 10th and 11th grade Bible at HCA. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Spurgeon College and earned his Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary in California. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and is the Assistant Pastor of Oak Hills Presbyterian Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Prior to serving in the PCA he was ordained in the Southern Baptist Convention and worked with a church replant in Kansas City. He has been married to his wife Madison since July of 2009 and they have three children: Melody and Judah who attend HCA, and Eden who now rests in the arms of her Father in heaven. In his free time he likes to spend time with family and friends, read anything related to theology/history, roast coffee, and spend time outdoors.

About Mr. Suttie

Mr. Richard (Rich) Suttie joined HCA as Head of School in July 2020 with vast experience across education, executive leadership, government service, and church service. He served in the United States Navy as a pilot and as a naval attache at the U.S. Embassy in London. Over his last 18 years in the Navy, Rich led training and education commands and served as the Assistant Dean of Academics and Professor at the U.S. Naval War College. He was appointed a National Security Fellow at the Maxwell School of Public Policy at Syracuse University and a Federal Executive Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

After retiring from the Navy, Rich served as superintendent of a large Christian school in Los Angeles, then as assistant dean for executive education at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. All along the way, Rich and his wife, Linda, raised their son in Christian schools across the country. Rich has served over 20 years in Christian education — as an involved parent, Board member, and administrator. In addition, Rich has been an active member of the Church, serving as both deacon and elder in multiple PCA churches. 

Rich and Linda have one adult son, Kyle, who lives and works in Rhode Island. Rich enjoys college football, photography, reading and golf. Linda has served for nearly two decades as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, and loves watching baseball and professional golf.

About Miss Werbin

Miss Werbin graduated summa cum laude with degrees in both Biology and Chemistry. Throughout her education she was involved in ecology research and is a co-author of a published ecology paper. Immediately after college, Miss Werbin spent a year in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences at Kansas University Medical Center. During her time in this program, she worked in biomedical labs helping further research in developmental biology and neuropharmacology. In that time, Miss Werbin felt God calling her to education. She will finish a graduate program this year.
