HCA Community Portal

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” —Galatians 6:9–10 (ESV)

Serve

In addition to financial gifts, we depend heavily on volunteers to support the many activities and events that make the HCA experience special and transformative for our students. Your generous contributions of time, skill and expertise are an enormous blessing on many levels. Not only are our students and teachers blessed, but so are the many communities and contexts in which our students are being prepared to serve with their lives. Those who serve at HCA are even themselves blessed as they interact with our students, parents and staff, proving true the words of Christ, “It is better to give than to receive.”

  • Do you have a professional skill or knowledge base that could help advance the goals of the school?
  • Do you have an interest in a particular program, club, cause or activity?
  • Would you like to help the HCA community show appreciation to our staff?
  • Could you serve as a room parent or chaperone a student field trip?
  • Would you be willing to help with event planning, setup or teardown?

Besides filling vital needs, service at Heritage is a tremendous opportunity to build deep and lasting relationships with other members of the Heritage community. Subscribe to one or both of our weekly newsletters to stay apprised of our latest needs and opportunities to serve.

Opportunities to Serve

There are countless opportunities to get involved in serving at HCA. Here are a few to get you started:

Connections Team

Heritage Christian Academy provides intentional programs to allow elementary parents to engage in their child’s Christ-centered education through Connections. These activities are designed to gather families together as they raise their children in the image of Christ.

  • BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRATION: One of the biggest gatherings of the year. It is a fun time for the whole family. The activities have varied from on campus picnics, barn yard hay ride celebrations, to water fun at Youth Front Camp. The event is traditionally held the Saturday prior to the East Campus starting school in August.
  • MEET THE TEACHER: This event is held the morning prior to the first day of school at the East campus. All of the Connections events are represented with information about their specific event and is an opportunity for others to see what is going on in the school community.
  • MOMS MORNING MIXER: Mom’s meet for a light breakfast at one of the two campuses to hear an inspirational speaker and to fellowship. This event is typically held the Friday of the first week of school at the East campus. This event is for elementary and high school moms.
  • RESTAURANT FAMILY NIGHTS: We encourage families to join other HCA families at various restaurants pre-determined 5 times throughout the year. Restaurants give a percentage back to the Connections team.
  • PARENT/CHILD EVENT: Every year we have 2 parent/child events. Father/Son and Mother/Daughter is rotated with Father/Daughter and Mother/Son. Activities and dates vary.
  • MOMS NIGHT OUT: All elementary and high school moms are invited to a social gathering event. Past events have included arts/crafts, game nights, or shopping. Typically held in October.
  • GRANDPARENTS DAY: We honor the student’s grandparents in this wonderful day of having them spend a half day with the students. Held the first Friday in November.
  • CARNIVAL: Pre-k through 6 is invited to come play! There are blow up bounce houses, carnival type ticket games, a cake walk, face painting and more. Dinner is served. Typically held in March.
  • CHANGE FOR CHICKENS: Students have a fun competition of donating money to buy chickens for Haitian children through Global Orphan Project. This event takes place in April.
  • UNIFORM EXCHANGE: A sale of gently used school uniforms and other spirit wear items.
  • TEACHER AIDE PROGRAM: This team helps the teachers with various jobs for the classroom, including copying, bulletin boards, and any packet assembly etc.
  • BOX TOPS: Organizes the gathering of our Box Tops for Education program.
  • COSTCO CONNECTIONS: Helps all Connections team shop for bulk items needed for their events.
  • SKATE CITY SOCIAL: Schedules and promotes 3 Skate City dates for HCA students.
  • AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE: This committee is available to promote and welcome new families to HCA.

Moms in Prayer

Fridays @ East Campus (Lower Level Nursery) • 8:20–9:20 a.m.

As a Christ-centered school, we express through prayer our utmost dependence on the LORD for our provision and protection. Our MIP group plays a vital role in covering our school board, administration, teachers, children, and events in prayer. MIP includes moms with children at either or both campuses. Because the latest drop-off time in the morning is at our east campus, we meet at that location for convenience and timing.

To submit a prayer request email Charissa Brammer or call/text her at 913-220-5190.
